– SUNFLOWER : A CROP FOR FOOD AND ENERGY
You of course knew that sunflower is used to produce edible oils, but did you know that there are different varieties of sunflower, and that high-oleic sunflower is increasingly being grown in France? Did you also know that the largest end use by volume for processed sunflower is animal feed? Or that sunflower seed hulls, which are rich in cellulose, are a source of renewable energy?
The exhibition also features information about the history of this processing site, which has been operating in the local area since 1830, sunflower cultivation, industrial processes, as well as the products manufactured at the plant.

– A FREE-ACCESS EXHIBITION AND SITE TOURS FOR LOCAL RESIDENTS
The exhibition, spanning more than 60 metres, is freely accessible to all. Some of the 42 employees also share insights into their daily work and their pride in working at Saipol in Lezoux. These key contributors to food sovereignty, photographed in their working environment and attire, now adorn the walls along Allée des Chalards in Lezoux.

For those who are particularly curious and would like to take a closer look at sunflower processing, the teams are organizing a first series of site tours, to be held on Thursday, June 22 at 6:15 p.m., Saturday, June 24 at 10:00 a.m. and Tuesday, June 27 at 6:15 p.m. The tours are free of charge, take place in groups of 10 people, and last between 1 and 1.5 hours. Further tours will be available after the summer.
